• Charcuterie Board

    Charcuterie Board

Are you ready to receive those guests?  Whether for the holiday season or a friendly get together, a simple Charcuterie Board with all the delicious bites is sure to get your guests eating and enjoying themselves.  The word Charcuterie is French, and it means cold cooked meats. While I love the cold cooked meats idea, I do need to pair them with cheeses, breads/crackers, fruit, veggies and nuts. I mean, why not?! So, this is my kind of Charcuterie Board. Add a glass of fine wine and i’m content! The more colorful, the better. And all these different textures on one platter make me so happy. So, for a holiday…

  • Butternut Squash Soup

    Butternut Squash Soup

This soup came together easily and very quickly, on a Tuesday afternoon after a long day at work. I had purchased a Butternut Squash at Trader Joe’s with zero plans for it. It’s the season, it was pretty and I just had to have it. Similar story to a lot of the items I pick up at grocery stores lately. It was sitting on my counter for about a week. I got home and needed a quick meal, so I decided it would be a soup kinda day. It took less than 30 minutes, and it turned into the best Butternut Squash Soup I have ever tasted. Do you…

  • Healthy Chicken Tacos

    Healthy Chicken Tacos

We love tacos around these parts. And we’re making them at least once a week. When you are busy like we are with work and kids, getting home and cooking a healthy weeknight meal could be challenging. Tacos are a great addition to our rotating dinner list because they are easy to make. They don’t require much effort or time, which is nice. Usually we go with beef tacos and I can’t remember the last time we had chicken tacos. Well, I needed to switch things with these quick healthy chicken tacos on iceberg lettuce. Chicken tenders are ideal for this recipe, which I boiled for about five minutes, shredded…

  • Oster - Brand Collaborations

    Cranberry Apple Muffins

Fall is upon us, my friends! It is my favorite season of them all. Why? Because I love the cooler temperatures, open windows, long sessions of stove top cooking, baking, and all the spices and aromas that come with the season. Give me all the cinnamon, apples, pumpkins and these seasonal Cranberry Apple Muffins. I’m a sucker for it all. This easy muffin recipe is perfect to awaken your fall senses. The apples, cinnamon and cranberries make a great satisfying mix and are great for on the go eating. These are ideal for a quick breakfast especially when warmed up a tad with a touch of butter. Yum!  Because butter…

  • Poppy Seed Pancakes with Lemon

Happy weekend, friends! When your kids ask for pancakes for breakfast you don’t deny them. You make them and then reward yourself with a couple, or five. These Poppy Seed Pancakes with Lemon are to die for. Of course my kids did not eat these as they prefer their pancakes plain with syrup. So scratch the poppy seeds in this recipe for a batch of plain delicious pancakes. I love anything with Poppy Seeds so much. My obsession started when I was growing up in Eastern Europe. It’s a very popular dessert filling especially around the holidays.  So I found this Poppy Seed Pastry Filling at my local Kroger.…

  • Flavorful Egg White Omelet

Good morning, friends! It is just another Saturday morning in the Hiller household. Why is it that on weekdays the kids need to be woken up but on weekends they wake up just fine and super early too?! I will never understand… I am a breakfast lover. Are you?  This is a quick and easy breakfast that could be made with a variety of ingredients. For example: Replace the mozzarella cheese with Feta cheese and add a little red onion to saute with the spinach for a Greek style omelet. I used the egg whites only, because I had them leftover from a dessert I made. Feel free to use…

  • Oatmeal Power Bowl

Who said that oatmeal had to be served sweet all the time?? Don’t get me wrong, I love my oatmeal with brown sugar, a side of fruit, honey or nut butter. But this version is so much better for a savory breakfast, healthy lunch or dinner option. I used Coach’s Oats for this recipe and followed the directions on the package to make the oatmeal. I substituted the water with organic Chicken Broth (I had some left over from another meal and I was happy to not waste it) and seasoned it with salt, pepper and Za’atar. Then I sautéed a half of a red pepper, garbanzo beans and added…

  • Cauliflower Fritters

These beauties came together with the help of a fridge clean out… The cauliflower needed to be used or tossed. So it got used! Do you ever buy something at the grocery store simply because it looks good and fresh?  Without any actual plans for it? I do it all the time. Luckily, most of the time, said item yields something quite delicious and it’s a pleasant surprise… There are also times when said item gets tossed and that’s a real shame. The guilt is real! These fritters are made exactly how I would make potato pancakes. I love potato pancakes. I also love cauliflower. This was a no-brainer. Cold-ish…

  • Sage + Blackberry Scones

I know, it’s technically still summer. But it sure feels like fall here in Michigan. The cool temps are quite refreshing and perfect for baking. These Sage + Blackberry Scones were a real treat over the long weekend. I’m not sure about you, but I really enjoy a nice cup of coffee with a savory treat or two. Cover me up with a light blanket on the couch, and I’m content. Except, it wouldn’t last very long. Ahhh the mom life! Luckily I have a decent imagination. Anyway, I love how versatile the base dough of scones can be. The sky is the limit with what you mix in there.…

  • Easy Crunchy Egg Rolls

These egg rolls are so delicious and come out extra crunchy. I love them! The sweet chili sauce for dipping is killer too. I make these with ground beef but they are also delicious with pork or a beef and pork mixture. Scratch the meat all together for a vegetarian option. Let me know how you like them!
