• Sesame Salmon with Zoodles

    Sesame Salmon with Zoodles

OK so this recipe is the easiest recipe in the world. I purchased everything for it at Trader Joe’s. And when I say everything, I mean the three main ingredients it takes to make it to your plate. Get to it, and make this Sesame Salmon with Zoodles. I started with the salmon. I cut a larger filet in two. I seasoned it with salt and pepper then seared it in a little bit of olive oil, skin side up. Then, I cooked it for approximately 4 minutes then turned it skin side down and cooked for an additional 3 to 4 minutes. I removed it from the pan, sprinkled it with…

  • Flavorful Egg White Omelet

Good morning, friends! It is just another Saturday morning in the Hiller household. Why is it that on weekdays the kids need to be woken up but on weekends they wake up just fine and super early too?! I will never understand… I am a breakfast lover. Are you?  This is a quick and easy breakfast that could be made with a variety of ingredients. For example: Replace the mozzarella cheese with Feta cheese and add a little red onion to saute with the spinach for a Greek style omelet. I used the egg whites only, because I had them leftover from a dessert I made. Feel free to use…

  • Avocado Grapefruit and Frisee Salad

    Avocado Grapefruit and Frisee Salad

Take your salad game to the next level with this delicious mix of Avocado, Grapefruit and Frisee. Thinly sliced avocado, perfectly juicy grapefruit and beautifully crunchy Frisee, give this salad a great vibe. I topped it with my  Delicious Salad Dressing and toasted pine nuts. So good! I don’t know about you, but when I was a kid I used to eat grapefruit sprinkled with lots and lots of sugar. Eating a grapefruit was a commodity though. Any type of citrus or exotic fruit was a once yearly treat and usually received as a Christmas gift. Thank you, Communism. Today, my kids are lucky to have an abundance of various fruit to…

  • Oatmeal Power Bowl

Who said that oatmeal had to be served sweet all the time?? Don’t get me wrong, I love my oatmeal with brown sugar, a side of fruit, honey or nut butter. But this version is so much better for a savory breakfast, healthy lunch or dinner option. I used Coach’s Oats for this recipe and followed the directions on the package to make the oatmeal. I substituted the water with organic Chicken Broth (I had some left over from another meal and I was happy to not waste it) and seasoned it with salt, pepper and Za’atar. Then I sautéed a half of a red pepper, garbanzo beans and added…

  • Delicious Salad Dressing

This Greek style dressing is so refreshing and delicious on any combination of greens and veggies. It’s quite delicious over greens and fruit as well. It’s got a great punch of garlic and the apple cider vinegar and lemon juice pull everything together very nicely. For the salad pictured, I used a combination of romaine hearts and baby spinach. Topped it with garbanzo beans, cucumbers, tomatoes, beets, and wild caught salmon (canned) from Costco. I also sprinkled the beets with a little bit of feta cheese. It was quite delicious, refreshing and most importantly, healthy. I need a good detox from all the holiday eating I’ve been taking part in. So…

  • Healthy Steak Salad

Making this salad was the highlight of my Sunday afternoon. It takes little time and you can prep some of the items way ahead of time. I cooked the beets earlier in the day and refrigerated them until I was ready to plate the salad. I also cooked the marinade and got that set in the fridge with the steak early on in the day. When it came to dinner time, my husband grilled the steak while I build the rest of the salad. It’s all about team work, folks. It makes things so much easier. Give this a try. You will love it. It’s clean. healthy and delicious!!

  • The Best Chili Recipe

Back revisiting this favorite of mine. This time though, I made a vegetarian batch of The Best Chili Recipe. I nixed all the meat and the beer, and I added mushrooms to the mix. It was just as delicious. Of course I garnished my portion with avocado slices. Because I love my avocados on anything. Don’t you? Need the non vegetarian version of this recipe? Keep scrolling… I’ve been using this chili recipe for the past 10 years, at least. I’m pretty sure I mixed a few recipes from various sources to get to this lovely mix of spices. We love it at our house! This recipe makes a large…

  • Pork Chop Dinner for Two

If you are a Michigan resident and you like fresh meat from animals raised on a family farm, give John Henry’s a try. No, I am not sponsored by them. However, I’ve been a customer for quite some time and have enjoyed every single order from their farm. I usually order a bundle and exhaust every piece of everything; including the bones. These pork chops were delivered fresh, last week. Since I was going out of town, I had to freeze them. But that didn’t take away from their deliciousness at Sunday’s supper. This is such a simple recipe with great fresh flavors. The asparagus and apple mix make a great side…

  • Breakfast Bites

Try this easy, delicious and most importantly quick recipe to cover the most important meal of the day; BREAKFAST! I made these on a Sunday and they were a perfect grab and go option for my husband and I for a few days. My littlest son might have eaten one too 😉

  • Watermelon Salad

I was obsessed over watermelon salads all summer long. Actually, I am still obsessing… I tried many variations and none of them disappointed. This mix was especially crisp and tasty. The crunchy cucumber, juicy watermelon, sweet mango, spicy jalapeño and the basil make a wonderful union. Then, you add the dressing and OMG. I made this for some wonderful ladies a few weekends ago, while we were spending a weekend away at a beautiful cottage on Lake Huron. It was a side dish next to chicken kabobs served with naan and hummus. The best! So hurry up, friends… make this salad before summer comes to an end. Or, make this…
