Over the summer, I went to a fundraising event at Selden Standard in Detroit. I was with a great group of friends, and we were served an after dinner drink that was composed of a Sweet White Vermouth, soda, and a lemon twist.
In my quest to find said Sweet White Vermouth in local stores, I came across LILLET. I tried it with a splash of soda and a lemon twist and it was delicious. Not quite the Selden Standard drink delicious, but very yummy.
During this same quest, I also uncovered St. Germain. A delicious liqueur made from elder-flower blossoms. Now, I probably had all these fine items in the many cocktails, including martinis, I have had in my past. But now, for some reason, I started paying attention. 😛
So, last night, mama needed a drink and I tried this mix:
2 Tbs Lillet
2 Tbs Gin
3 Tbs St. Germain (only because i wanted it to be on the sweeter side)
1 Tbs lemon juice
A splash of soda
A lemon twist
Pour over ice and enjoy! It was quite delicious.
If you enjoy a lemony beverage with a kick, this one is for you. Cheers and Happy Thanksgiving!!
PS You must be 21 or older to drink this in the USA. 🙂
